Looking at the screen print below, located on the left side of the screen, we see a window with Shopping Lists, Category Lists, and a Calendar tabs. Click on the tab labeled Shopping Lists. To create or add recipes to a shopping list, just drag and drop the recipe in the right window, on top of the particular shopping list you are changing. The window on the right represents the kept recipes, or recipes you always want to keep under the Recipes tab, and a list of all known ingredients under the Ingredients tab. If a particular recipe is deleted from a Shopping List, CdChef will not delete it from the kept recipes list so you can drag and drop a particular recipe to several different Shopping Lists.
The main shopping list tree consist of four levels of information, the shopping list name, a recipe list name, the recipe title, and the ingredients for each of the recipes. Displayed above, we can see the shopping list for Carl's Birthday has three associated recipe lists, Breakfast, Hors d' oeuvres, and Dinner. Each recipe list can have as many recipes associated as needed, here for Dinner we have Grilled Chicken Skewers with Tangerine, and Holiday Broccoli Soup. Notice the plus and negative signs in front of each of the names, if there are any sublevels, there will be a plus sign in front of the name, just like the recipes titled Holiday Egg Casserole, Grilled Chicken, and Holiday Broccoli Soup. If we were to click on the plus sign in front of any of the recipes, the ingredients will be displayed below. Once the sub level is expanded, a negative sign will appear, letting you know there are no further levels to be displayed, just like Carl's Birthday and Dinner. To insert a new shopping list, simply click on the title Shopping Lists at the top, and right click. A pop-up menu will appear and simply choose Insert New Shopping List. You can name the shopping list anything you like, such as Best Diet Meals, Outside BBQ, or My Birthday. To insert new recipe lists under each of the shopping lists, simply right-click on the shopping list to display the pop-up menu, and choose Insert New Recipe List. The recipe lists can be named anything you like, but be descriptive of the type or occasion for the recipes to be associated, such as BBQ Chicken Recipes, or Favorite Stews. After you have created your shopping list and recipe list, you can simply drag and drop recipes from the right window onto the name of the recipe list. All ingredients will automatically be copied along with the information about the recipe. If you are creating a new recipe, you can simply drag and drop ingredients from the right window on top of the recipe title. Or, you can right-click on the recipe title and choose Insert New Ingredient, if the recipe title has a plus sign in front of it (letting you know it's not expanded), choose Insert to One Lower Level.
